                Senior Communications Technician (Raytheon/Government Contract) 2002 to 2003
                   Amundsen Scott-- South Pole Station, Antarctica

                *Repaired and tested UHF, VHF and HF communication systems.
                *Used specialized test equipment to diagnose cause of equipment malfunctions.
                *Monitored SATCOM M&C software and making adjustments when necessary.  Remotely monitored the                   performance of various K and S band SATCOM Earth Station equipment utilizing Lab View applications.                   Repaired and replaced defective 9 meter satellite dish components.
                *Installed and maintained single channel and multi-channel Iridium satellite communications
                  equipment. In addition, assisted with the integration of local PBX with iridium satellite L-Band                   InMarSAT equipment.
                *Installed and maintained Cisco wireless (protocol 802.11) network infrastructure.
                *Maintained airfield avionics beacon, TACAN and meteorological equipment.
                *Maintained the stations analog telephone system and programmed the NEC 2400 PBX unit.
                *Installed, terminated and tested telephone twisted copper cable, blocks and analog phones.
                *Installed, maintained and repaired the stations audiovisual equipment.
                *Installed, terminated and tested outdoor/indoor Fiber Optic cables.

                ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

                *Spliced cut fiber optic cable and a 25 pair cooper cable in a snow trench during extreme weather                   conditions, -67 degrees Fahrenheit and poor visibility.
                *Replaced defective elevation and azimuth motors on a 9 meter satellite dish during harsh weather                   conditions, -75 degrees Fahrenheit and poor visibility.
                *Established wireless network connectivity to several remote science camps using Cisco wireless network                   equipment.

                *Maintained over 525 items of computer equipment for the entire 10th Special Forces Group.
                *Computer equipment repair. Specialized in Compaq and Micron desktop and Panasonic laptop repair.                   Additional expertise in HP printer repair.
                *Quality control inspection of repaired communication and computer equipment.
                *Read and effectively use schematics and wiring diagrams.
                *Interpreted manufacturers manuals and similar documents to troubleshoot electronic equipment.
                *Instrumental in setting up communication systems in remote overseas locations.

                 *Technical problem solving under extreme weather and combat conditions.  At a remote location repaired                    Night-vision goggles defective power supply with chewing gum wrapper and nylon string.  
                 *Installed 8 foot satellite dish, programmed receiver with satellite frequencies and managed to receive                    over 350 television channels in a wheat field in Kosovo.
                 *Designed and fabricated power distribution boxes for diesel and gasoline generators.  Saving the Army                    twenty-one thousand dollars.
